State Finalist – Samsung Solve for Tomorrow
The SEM Engineering club known as TAME/SHPE/NSBE (Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers) is participating in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition.
Laura Thompson, TAME/SHPE/NSBE President says, “I’m excited to do this again! It’s going to be a lot of work but our project will help our community and that makes everything worth it.”
SEM is currently a State Finalist competing to be the State Winner.

Young Leaders, Strong City Racial Justice and Equity Summit
REGISTER NOW for the 2019 Annual YLSC student summit.
All Dallas area high school students are invited to the annual Young Leaders, Strong City racial justice and equity summit. There will be food, music, and is free for all and an opportunity to gain volunteer hours.
YLSC intentionally recruits a diverse group of students from various backgrounds, levels of academic achievement, and existing leadership skills or experience. Our goal is to invest in students where they are right now by creating a day that exposes them to conversations covering topics such as environmental justice, sports and activism, identity, and organizing for change.

Our annual PTSA Halloween sale is just around the corner! We will be selling spooky sticks, MEGA spooky sticks and other fun treats in the SEM hallway on Halloween before school and during all lunches. The money raised from this event goes to graduation funds for each class. We need your candy and snack donations to make his event a success! Please consider donating a bag of snack-size chips and/or fun size Halloween candy. Spicy snacks are a student favorite! Please bring donated items to the SEM office through October 22st. We will also be collecting items at Parent/Teacher conference night on Monday, October 7th…come by and say hi! Thank you for supporting the SEM PTSA.
